Three of Ohio State’s standouts in the trenches have caught the attention of the Senior Bowl.

Ohio State left tackle Josh Simmons, center Seth McLaughlin and defensive tackle Ty Hamilton were all named midseason All-Americans by the Senior Bowl on Thursday.

All three of Simmons, McLaughlin and Hamilton entered the 2024 season looking to elevate their games this year to strengthen Ohio State in the trenches and impress NFL scouts, and all three of them have delivered.

Simmons and McLaughlin are two crucial reasons why Ohio State’s offensive line has been one of the best in the country so far this season. The Buckeyes’ front five has allowed only four sacks in five games while leading the way for Ohio State to run for 6.24 yards per carry, the fifth-best mark in the country.

Ohio State’s offensive line as a whole was also named to the Joe Moore Award midseason honor roll on Thursday in recognition of the Buckeyes’ play up front.

Hamilton often gets overshadowed by Ohio State’s other senior defensive linemen, but earns some well-deserved recognition from the Senior Bowl after a strong start to the season in which he has recorded 18 total tackles – the fourth-most of any Buckeye – with 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. From his nose tackle position, Hamilton has played a crucial role in leading the way for Ohio State’s third-ranked run defense, which has held opponents to only 72.6 rushing yards per game this season.

Ohio State is one of three schools with three players on the Senior Bowl’s midseason All-American team along with Georgia (LG Dylan Fairchild, LB Jalon Walker, S Malaki Starks) and Penn State (RB Nick Singleton, TE Tyler Warren, S Jaylen Reed).
