Ohio State has suffered a massive injury on its offensive line for the second time this season.
After already reshuffling its offensive line once this year to replace Josh Simmons at left tackle, Ohio State will now have to do so once again to replace another star up front after Seth McLaughlin went down with a season-ending Achilles injury on Tuesday.
It’s not going to be easy to replace McLaughlin, who had been one of the best centers in the country this season, especially with only a few days to prepare to face a top-five-ranked Indiana team that leads the Big Ten in sacks and tackles for loss. But the Buckeyes do have some options.
The most likely option for replacing McLaughlin is moving Carson Hinzman back to center and plugging either Austin Siereveld or Luke Montgomery in at left guard, though the option of keeping Hinzman at left guard and inserting Joshua Padilla at center could also be on the table.
We discuss the impact of McLaughlin’s injury, the options to replace him and the challenge of having to do so at a pivotal point in the season on a reaction episode of Press Coverage, which you can watch in the video at the top of the page.
