Seven Buckeyes made this year’s All-Big Ten first team.

Safety Caleb Downs, offensive lineman Donovan Jackson, center Seth McLaughlin, safety Lathan Ransom, wideout Jeremiah Smith, linebacker Cody Simon and defensive end JT Tuimoloau all earned first-team All-Big Ten honors on Tuesday while nine other Ohio State players earned second- or third-team recognition.

Downs, a highly coveted safety transfer from Alabama, has recorded 62 total tackles, three pass deflections, an interception and a punt return for a touchdown in his first season with Ohio State. He also was named the Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year.

Smith has been an instant star at Ohio Stadium as a true freshman and won the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year honor following a regular season in which he caught 57 passes for 934 yards with 10 touchdowns, all of which are Ohio State records for a freshman wideout.

Jackson has been an anchor of OSU's offensive line, starting the season at left guard but moving to left tackle for the final five games of the regular season following a season-ending injury to Josh Simmons.

McLaughlin was another Alabama transfer that bolstered Ohio State's interior line this season. His season was cut short after 10 games following a torn Achilles, but he was one of the best centers in the country before his injury.

Ransom has racked up 57 total tackles, three forced fumbles, an interception and a pass deflection in his final season with the scarlet and gray.

Simon, a team captain and this year’s Block O recipient for the Buckeyes, recorded 74 total tackles, five sacks and a forced fumble during the regular season.

Tuimoloau has recorded six sacks, 38 total tackles and a forced fumble in his last go-around with OSU.

Jackson and Tuimoloau are each first-team All-Big Ten honorees for the third year in a row.

Defensive end Jack Sawyer and linebacker Sonny Styles both earned All-Big Ten second team honors. Cornerback Denzel Burke, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, running back TreVeyon Henderson, quarterback Will Howard, running back Quinshon Judkins, left tackle Josh Simmons (despite not playing since Oct. 12) and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams are all third-team honorees.

Defensive tackle Ty Hamilton, cornerback Jordan Hancock, cornerback Davison Igbinosun, long snapper John Ferlmann, offensive tackle Josh Fryar and right guard Tegra Tshabola were each named honorable mentions.
