Ohio State now has two consensus All-Americans this season.
Seth McLaughlin became Ohio State’s second consensus All-American this season and 57th consensus All-American all-time when he was named a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America on Monday.
Caleb Downs, who became a consensus All-American on Monday, also earned first-team honors from the FWAA. He is now one step away from unanimous All-American honors, which he will earn if he is named a first-team All-American by Sporting News on Wednesday.
McLaughlin and Downs are the seventh and eighth Buckeyes to become consensus All-Americans in Ryan Day’s tenure, joining Jeff Okudah (unanimous, 2019), Chase Young (unanimous, 2019), Shaun Wade (consensus, 2020), Wyatt Davis (unanimous, 2020), Paris Johnson (consensus, 2022) and Marvin Harrison Jr. (unanimous, 2022 and 2023).
