So much for that losing streak. Ohio State snapped a mini skid tonight with a 3-2 win at No. 19 Bowling Green.
The Buckeyes played from behind for much of the game. Brent Tate got the scoring started for the Falcons, beating OSU goalie Matt Tomkins at the 8:41 mark of the first period.

Neither team was able to score in the middle frame, though they had their chances. Ohio State failed to convert a pair of power play opportunities. Bowling Green dominated the shot chart, putting 11 pucks on net to OSU’s 4.
The Buckeyes pressed the Falcons throughout the third period and their hard work finally paid off. With a little over four minutes to play freshman Matthew Weis tucked his first collegiate goal behind BG goalie Tommy Burke. Defenseman Sam Jardine assisted on the play, tying the game at 1-1.
Ohio State continued its assault. Moments Tyler Lundey’s first goal of the season gave the Bucks the lead. Helpers on the goal went to defenseman Craig Dalrymple, playing in his first game since January, and freshman Christian Lampasso.
Bowling Green stopped the Buckeye celebrations seconds later. Tate struck again, tying the score back up with his second goal of the game.
But Ohio State was not to be denied. Anthony Greco regained the lead for the Bucks with his team leading fifth goal of the season. Ohio State fended off Bowling Green’s final onslaught and took the 3-2 victory.
The Buckeyes and Falcons complete their series tomorrow night at the Schott. The opening faceoff is set for 7pm.
Lady Bucks’ Comeback Falls Short Against Gophers
Senior Taylor Kuehl ignited Ohio State’s power play as the Buckeyes made a run at Minnesota tonight. In the end, though, the ladies’ come back attempt fell a little short.

Ohio State | 0 | 2 | 0 | 2 |
It looked as though the teams would play to a scoreless first period, but Minnesota’s Maryanne Menefee found the back of the net with 26 ticks left on the clock. The Gophers added two power play tallies in the second period. Midway through the game the visitors enjoyed a 3-0 lead.
Then the Buckeyes’ much maligned power play came to life. Kuehl lit the lamp on back-to-back man-advantages, drawing Ohio State within a goal of Minnesota.
Unfortunately it was as close as the ladies would get tonight. Rachel Bona stretched the Gophers’ lead back to two less than a minute later. Minnesota took the victory by a final score of 4-2. Buckeye goalie Kassidy Sauve stopped 40 shots in the game.
Though the outcome wasn’t what anyone wanted there are some positives to take away from the loss. Ohio State has struggled on the power play this season. The Buckeyes converted two out of four chances against a high quality defense tonight.
Also, though the Bucks were in a deep hole against one of the nation’s top teams, they battled their way back into the game. Grit, guts, heart, whatever you want to call it, these ladies have it.
Ohio State and Minnesota will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 2pm in the Ice Rink.
