Yesterday the Ohio State women’s hockey team overcame a rough start to defeat No. 6 North Dakota. The Buckeyes didn’t have quite enough magic today. Another challenging start put them behind the eight ball early. This time UND skated away with the win.

North Dakota took advantage of back to back power plays in the opening six minutes of the game. OSU killed off the initial advantage but Halli Krzyzaniak capitalized on the second. NoDak added another goal in the latter minutes of the first period. Top scorer Amy Menke potted the eventual game winning tally at the 18:12 mark.
Ohio State got on the board in the third period. Freshman Maddy Field scored her fifth goal of the season with help from Cara Zubko. Both players have been notable on the Buckeye stat sheets this year.
pd | time | buckeye goal scorer (assist) |

3 | 6:11 | Maddy Field (Cara Zubko) |
Field was not the most hyped incoming freshman but she has made a significant impact in her brief career. Senior defender Zubko is in the middle of a career season. She has lit the lamp three times already, topping her previous high mark of two scores. Today’s assist also brings her total points up to eight, already a career best less than halfway through the year.
Unfortunately Field's goal was the only puck the Buckeyes could get past top goalie Shelby Amsley-Benzie today. Menke struck again and UND added a score from Vilma Tanskanen as North Dakota won the game 4-1. With this weekend’s series split Ohio State’s record stands at 5-7-0 overall and 3-7-0-0 within the WCHA. Next up the Buckeyes head to St. Cloud for a conference match up with the up and down Huskies.
