Ohio State forward Dave Gust is Big Ten hockey’s First Star of the Week. Gust was heavily involved in the Buckeyes’ sweep of Canisius. He plagued the Golden Griffins’ puck carriers, forced turnovers, and generated offense for the Scarlet and Gray all series long. The Orland Park, Illinois native tallied a goal and four assists on the weekend, a career best number.

Before the season began head coach Steve Rohlik pointed to Gust as a player to watch. It appears that the coach is a wise man. Through ten games this season Gust has recorded two goals and nine assists. The eleven points are a single season high for the junior.
This is the first B1G honor for Gust and the second selection this season for an Ohio State player. Men’s hockey is off this week. The Buckeyes return to action Thanksgiving weekend with a series at No. 6 Nebraska-Omaha.
