The latest laurel has a little extra shine to it as it came at the expense of the Wolverines. Schilkey posted an assist in the Buckeyes' 7-4 win last Friday. On Sunday he scored twice and tallied another assist. No goal was bigger than the one he scored in overtime to secure Ohio State's weekend sweep and season series victory over No. 6 Michigan.
Schilkey is producing at a tremendous rate. The Marysville, Michigan native has tallied points in each of his last six games, totaling six goals and eight assists for 14 points. He leads a surging Buckeye offense that has posted 30 total goals in its last five outings.
A pair of goalies round out the Stars of the Week thanks to their outstanding performances last Saturday. Michigan State senior Jake Hildebrand earned a Second Star nod after shutting out Minnesota. Wisconsin freshman Matt Jurusik nabbed the Third Star for his 46 save win over Penn State.
Schilkey and the Bucks close out hockey’s regular season this week with a road series. They head to Michigan State to take on Hildebrand and the Spartans. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7pm on both Friday and Saturday.
