Ohio State came up a bit short of the Ice Breaker Tournament title but the team still made an impression on the pollmakers. The new national rankings were released today. USCHO has the Buckeyes at No. 19. USA Today/USA Hockey slots them in at No. 15.

USCHO ranks 20 teams in its poll. USA Today/USA Hockey lists 15 teams. OSU has been receiving votes in both polls since the preseason, though this is the first time the team cracks the official numbers.

The Buckeyes look to keep the good juju flowing this Saturday when they take on in-state rival Miami. (There is no Friday game this week.) The battle is set to begin at 8pm ET in Oxford.

Coincidentally, the last time Ohio State cracked the national polls was October of 2014. The next opponent on the schedule was Miami. The Redhawks came away with a series sweep and the Bucks immediately dropped back out of the rankings. Here’s hoping for a better result this time around.
