The No. 4 women’s hockey Buckeyes took care of business today in their series finale against St. Cloud State. Ohio State picked up where it left off last night. The Bucks led wire-to-wire in the 3-2 win. They swept the series and picked up the full complement of six conference points.

Scoring by Period 1 2 3 Final
St. Cloud State 0 1 1 2
No. 4 Ohio State 1 2 0 3

Tatum Skaggs lit the lamp late in the first period. The goal was a team-topping seventh for the sophomore forward. Sara Saekkinen and Lisa Bruno assisted. Saekkinen’s helper extended her point streak to three games.

Buckeye Goal Scorers (Assists) Pd Time
Tatum Skaggs (Sara Saekkinen, Lisa Bruno) 1 16:44
Maddy Field (Emma Maltais, Jincy Dunne) 2 3:40
SH - Charly Dahlquist (Emma Maltais, Jincy Dunne) 2 14:29

Huskies sniper Julia Tylke struck right out of the intermission break. She tied the game a minute into the second period. But Maddy Field was having none of that. She restored the Bucks’ edge with her third goal of the series.

Emma Maltais and Jincy Dunne set the stage for Field's goal. They pulled the strings behind another OSU tally at the 14:29 mark. This time reigning WCHA Forward of the Week Charly Dahlquist cashed in on their set up. She scored shorthanded for a 3-1 Buckeye lead.

With 3:47 to play in the game Hallie Theodosopoulos slipped a second St. Cloud goal by Andrea Braendli. The score prevented Field from collecting yet another game winner but it didn’t stop the Buckeye victory. Braendli and the OSU defense shut down the Huskies’ late charge and preserved the win.

Head coach Nadine Muzerall acknowledged her team could have finished better. “The last two minutes I’d like us to control that a little bit better and have better puck possession and decisions late in the game so that we don’t put ourselves into a predicament where you’re completely dominant and then you’re scrambling the last minute unnecessarily.”

Overall, though, she was pleased with the Buckeyes' efforts in both today's game and the series in general. “I would say that this is the first weekend that we’ve played a solid two games.” Hear more of Muzerall's postgame comments here

The series sweep lifts Ohio State’s overall record to 9-3-0. The Buckeyes are 5-1-0-0 in conference games. They are tied with Wisconsin for second in the WCHA.
