Ohio State men's ice hockey will wear an alternate uniform for its “Faceoff on the Lake” matchup with Michigan at the Cleveland Browns' FirstEnergy Stadium on Saturday.
The Buckeyes, who are considered the home team for the neutral site contest, will wear white jerseys with scarlet numbers on the front, player names on the back and several cursive and stripe accents. The makeup of the uniform resembles that of the Ohio State football teams from the 1940s, including the national championship-winning 1942 team.

The outdoor battle between Ohio State and Michigan will be the first-ever hockey game at FirstEnergy Stadium. The rink will stretch from one 18-yard line to the other on the football field, creating an excellent view for all who will attend the contest. As of Friday, a crowd of more than 50,000 is expected to fill the stands.

While FirstEnergy Stadium is new to outdoor hockey, the outdoor meeting will be a familiar experience for the competing teams. The Wolverines previously knocked off the Buckeyes, 4-1, at the Cleveland Guardians’ Progressive Field on Jan. 15, 2012. Michigan is 4-2-1-1 all-time in outdoor games, while Ohio State has a record of 0-3.
As for matchups this year, the programs split their two-game series in Ann Arbor in January. However, Ohio State holds the latest bragging rights after a 3-3 tie in regulation eventually ended with a shootout victory for the Buckeyes in Columbus.
The Faceoff on the Lake will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network at 4 p.m. on Feb. 18.
