Cotie McMahon will return to Columbus with a gold medal.
Team USA was tied 66-all with Spain in the final game of the FIBA U19 Women's World Cup in Madrid on Sunday when the Buckeye star and 2022-23 Big Ten Freshman of the Year gave the Americans an edge with 21 seconds left. McMahon's layup proved to be the game-winner for Team USA, which finished with a 69-66 win in the gold-medal match.

McMahon scored 16 points for her squad and tacked on six boards and three assists to her final stat line. With the win, Team USA captured its third consecutive gold medal in the event and its 10th overall. The United States has won six straight gold medals in the U19 Women's World Cup dating back to 2017, when it lost to Russia in the finals. Outside of that defeat, the Americans have now taken gold in nine of the past 10 events.
