ICYMI:
- Urban Meyer presser notes.
- Malik Harrison out for spring after undergoing shoulder surgery.
- Put a life-size statue of Woody Hayes in his hometown of Newcomerstown, Ohio.
Word of the Day: Succor.
THAT SOUNDS GOOD. Urban Meyer says it time and again: When his offense is at the best, it's when it pounds defenses on the ground before going over the top (sometimes with the ol' play-action).
J.T. Barrett seems to be trending the right way.
From dispatch.com:
“The deep-ball percentage was the best we’ve had since we’ve been here last week,” Meyer said. “We’ve been charting everything. J.T. and the boys did a really good job. We didn’t catch all of them, but as far as accuracy, it was 90 percent. That’s what we’re looking for.”
Meyer also noted Ryan Day and Barrett have been relentless in reworking the quarterback's footwork. Sounds like all Ohio State needs is a 6-foot+ receiver with track speed that can high-point a 50-yard pass with one hand.
CAMPBELL POWERS UP. Last year during fall camp Meyer praised Parris Campbell more than seemingly anyone else. Campbell finished the season with 13 receptions for 121 yards and 5 rushes for 54 yards and 1 touchdown.
The hype train continues to build for 2017, though. It's not just Meyer praising the Akron product, either.
From 247sports.com:
“Parris Campbell is on a different plane than he was a year ago,” the source began. “Whether it be catching the ball, running routes, being an aggressive receiver, he is in a completely different place. There has never been any question about his speed. But now he is putting everything together. It’s exciting to see.”
From The Athletic's Zac Jackson:
Saw Parris a couple weeks ago and he looked like he'd taken up residence in the weight room. https://t.co/iyScQb4qki

People forget Campbell turned 17 a month before arriving in Columbus and was one of the youngest recruits in the 2014 class. This is why I'm more inclined to buy the hype than I would be for another player entering his fourth year in the program with similar past production.
SCOONIE PULLS UP. If you're in the campus area and in need of a get-laid-fade, you could probably do worse than Scoonie Penn's new venture.
From 10tv.com:
Just off High Street on campus, you will find 12 on Twelfth.
It’s a brand new barber shop that is the brainchild of Buckeye Basketball great Scoonie Penn.
That’s right, that Scoonie Penn who led the Buckeyes to the Final Four in 1999 now owns a barber shop.
Penn isn't a barber; he just put up the capital.
My heart is all over the place. As a 90's kid, one of my most cherished OSU memories is watching Scoonie and Michael Redd's run to the Final Four on a 24" standard definition television in a Florida hotel during spring break.
I was dismayed, however, to learn this new venture came at the expense of Colors, which had been 1b) behind Teck's 1a) in the barbershop rankings for over 25 years. I still keep James the owner's business card on my refrigerator.
And shoutout to the 12 on Twelfth customer from the video who says "We start next season with three bums." Expectations are as high as they've ever been in Columbus.
OLDS MORE SATISFIED THAN YOUNGS. Interesting numbers reported yesterday about the satisfaction of various Ohio State donor age groups. Older donors are more satisfied with their donation (no matter the amount) than younger ones.
From Tom Knox of Columbus Business First:
The younger you are, the more likely it is you're not satisfied with the experience of donating to Ohio State
Who are these 22-year-olds throwing donating 50K+ to Ohio State? I need answers.
TOKES LIKELY TO GRADUATE AFTER ALL. Ohio State trustees will likely move forward with a plan to allow Reagan Tokes, the student set to graduate this semester that was tragically murdered last month, to graduate posthumously.
From Nick Roll of The Lantern:
Reagan Tokes won’t graduate in May, but she might still get a diploma.
The Board of Trustees is set to vote on a proposal to grant Tokes a posthumous bachelor of arts degree when it meets this week, according to its agenda.
Seems like a sensibly noble gesture to me.
