I wrote about this last week, and look: I know that you're all probably kind of emotionally (in a fandom kind of way) exhausted by all the weird ways that college football has monetized and will continue to monetize itself going forward. It's dumb and sucks but also just remember that all of this started when schools and conferences started receiving tens, then hundreds, of millions of dollars several decades ago for their broadcast rights from networks all trying to get in on a sport exploding in popularity.
You can't keep that genie in the bottle for long, and eventually everyone is going to want a shot a rubbing that magic lamp. Even the players.
So that's what George and I get into this week, along with some recruiting news and another evil defector to Michigan (boo, hiss!). Check it out!
- Brands brands brands brands. I don't know where I'd draw the line, exactly, but my guess is that a lot of people will dip before George and I would.
- Oh hey, congrats to Neal Shipley!
- Ohio State still bringing in recruits - and early - even while losing staffers to Michigan.
- Ask Us Anything, which you can do by sending us questions to dubcast@levenwarriors.com, wants to know when the last game of college football will be played, ever. And what we like to do in the summer!
- Man they're really just going to blow up the best sports show on TV, huh?
- A funny (but probably false) Coach Prime story.
- RIP Tommy's. Well, one Tommy's. Tommy.
And that does it for the Dubcast this week, watch the show now on YouTube above or visit our Transistor page for links to other listening options such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and more.
Thank you for watching/listening/checking out the Dry Goods store, and we'll see you next week!
