Brian Kelly is no longer on his high horse. Kelly's Irish lost their second game of the season — this time during a trip to Arizona State — 55-31. In the immediate aftermath of the game, Kelly dropped this gem on reporters:
Reporter: Brian, how can you, I know they're not all on [Everett] Golson, especially the picks, but the fumbles, consistently-
Kelly: Why aren't they all on Golson?
Why would anyone want to play with this guy? But yes, why aren't they all on ND's star quarterback?
Reporter: Well, a couple were hit from behind, you mentioned a lineman didn't cut the defensive end when one gets tipped-
Kelly: Right, that one, yeah
Reporter: The second pick-six went off of Robinson, it was a little behind him-
Kelly: Yeah, it was, he should have caught that ball.
Reporter: So not all six turnovers were on Golson-
Kelly: No, I agree
That's the kind of salt displayed after an expulsion-from-the-playoffs loss. He also dropped this:
"Sooner or later he's got to take it on himself to take care of the football. I don't know what else to do."
That's a stunning admission from a man who gets paid millions of dollars to solve basic problems like this every day.
