A Pennsylvania state police report from 2001 following the infamous locker room assault witnessed by assistant Mike McQueary contains a description of Paterno's reaction to it, where the coach said it "was the second complaint of this nature he had received."

The coach's documented words contradict both what he told a grand jury and his published statement prior to his death in 2012 that he "had 'no inkling' that Sandusky might be a sexual deviant" until McQueary approached him in 2001.

The National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline provides a range of free services, including:

  • Confidential support from a trained staff member
  • Support finding a local health facility that is trained to care for survivors of sexual assault and offers services like sexual assault forensic exams
  • Someone to help you talk through what happened
  • Local resources that can assist with your next steps toward healing and recovery
  • Referrals for long term support in your area
  • Information about the laws in your community
  • Basic information about medical concerns

It is also a safe, confidential service if you need to report something you witnessed. Don't suffer alone, and do not allow others to continue suffering.
