Nebraska has certainly made a splash with the announcement of its new athletic director, but probably not the one they were hoping for.
The school announced on Wednesday that Trev Alberts – yes, that Trev Alberts – would be taking over as Nebraska's new athletic director.

Alberts, for those unaware, spent three years working for ESPN as a college football analyst where he became widely known for his on-air trolling of Ohio State. You could say Alberts was ESPN's Mark May before Mark May stepped into his Buckeye hater schtick.
In September of 2005, Alberts was fired from ESPN for breaching his contract when he declined to show up to work.
Alberts has served as an athletic director once before at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he promptly cut the football program after less than two years on the job.
It's a perplexing move to say the least, but it's an oddly fitting replacement for the guy who once suggested that Urban Meyer was "running a little bit scared" after Nebraska hired Scott Frost, who is now 12-20 in three seasons with the Huskers.
