I know this has been talked about throughout the history of the playoff with many pundits pushing for 2 teams from the same conference getting into the playoffs since a lone loss ‘is the a playoff team’.  I’m having trouble reconciling the story line with Clemson and ND this year.  This week, Pollack had already given Clemson a mulligan with Lawrence and a few other starters sitting out.  If you’re going to argue that a loss shouldn’t count because a team was undermanned, shouldn’t you also be arguing that the win for the other team shouldn’t be weighted as high?  The TL:DR version: why should ND get credit for this win if the loss will be excused since Clemson wasn’t at full strength?
