One name I didn't see on the "Who'd make Ohio State Fans Nervous?" list was Tom Herman. After losing Ewers and trending down, it's likely he'll be looking for employment this spring. I think he's struggled at Texas because of the culture there in conjunction with their booster's meddling and expectations. So, he might be a coach that's undervalued or maybe "bargain bin" quality.
AND, he'd fit right in at Michigan... with that mensa certificate and big head. He's a non Michigan, "Michigan man".
Pros for Michigan...
- He could recruit Texas, Ohio, Michigan well
- He has a strained/ hate filled relationship with Ohio State that could feed the rivalry
- He knows our program well.
- He knows the culture around prioritizing the rivalry.
- He has run multiple programs as a seasoned head coach, who's still in his prime and trying to prove something.
Cons for Michigan...
- He's struggled at a major program with plenty of support in a fertile recruiting ground.
- He's not done much with the Texas momentum he had, and he'd be inheriting a program in a much worse state.
- What quality assistants would seriously follow him there?
- He's not going to be cheap combined with JH's buyout.
So, what do you think... would a Tom Herman hire make you nervous?
