One Year of Glory Or Consistent Quality?

The LSU situation is fascinating to me. Last year was about as good as it gets in CFB for them. They beat their rival, they won a national championship. They got so much love from the media. This year everyone's exiting, their future seems to be a huge question mark. The ground is very unstable, the fans are furious. But from an outside perspective, maybe it was worth it for that championship? I feel like if I were a fan I could deal with 4-5 bad years following a title.

So this got me thinking, if you could only chose one: would you rather have a team like LSU that reached greatness only to plummet back to Earth the next year? Or would you rather have a team that is consistently top-5/10, that feels stable, but doesn't reach the upmost pinnacle? I'm thinking more along the lines of Georgia here, they are consistently top-5/10, but their last national title was in 1980.

As a fan, would you rather suffer a lot of bad years for a championship once a decade or so, or would you prefer a team that's always good/competitive but doesn't win titles?

*Editor's Note: A few have mentioned Alabama in the comments: I didn't put in Alabama because to me that is always the more obvious answer. But what makes Alabama, UCONN in WBB, the Patriots, etc. unique is that those teams are once in a generation types, obviously everyone would want that scenario if they could. You're much more likely to be one of the two teams I mentioned, so which of those two is your preferred?
