Clemson fans are taking this one understandably bad, after already losing their best assistant coach to Oklahoma and Dabo's less than inspiring replacements for both the DC and OC spots. I'm not one of those predicting Clemson's imminent demise, but it does seem like they're more likely to regress to their historical mean than get back to the summit of college football.
Seems like many Clemson fans believe Bates got miffed that he wasn't offered the DC/a co-DC position. Similar to how Larry Johnson left Penn State (and how Venables left Oklahoma for Clemson in the first place).
