Hey folks, long time no see.

Some of you may recall I made similar posts about two/three years ago about my new college football rating system and I really do greatly appreciate all of your feedback as it made the formula stronger than ever.

Welp, I'm back.

I've been keeping up with this exercise the whole time, just didn't post as I'm getting a football podcast off the ground and I've been trying to integrate my rating system into that, so it felt weird trying to monetize and yet giving it for free here.

That being said... f*** it, why not give some love to the community that helped me build this thing out in the first place.

In case you are unfamiliar, basically I take win % plus everyone's offensive and defensive stats plus some others like turnover margin, penalties, time of possession, scoring differential, etc., compare all that to their schedule, essentially adding a strength-of-schedule multiplier to each of those stats and then spitting out a number at the end of it.

The rating system goes from a hard cap of 100 (The #1 team is set to 100 points) to a theoretical minimum of about -60 though I've never seen it go lower than a -25 or so, and current #131, the Charlotte 49ers, are at a -12.8.

Let's see the top 10 as of week 8:

1. The Team Up North (Rating 100)

2. Georgia (99.449)

3. TCU (99.172)

4. The Ohio State (98.636)

5. Tennessee (95.104)

6. Clemson (93.848)

7. Alabama (88.610)

8. Syracuse (84.739)

9. USC (83.762)

10. Penn State (81.895)

A few notes... Very surprised TTUN is rated so highly, but also this is the tightest the top 4 have ever been in these ratings. Usually I have a spread of about 5 points in the top 4 and this year so far that drop off doesn't happen until Tennessee.

Tennessee is getting (rightfully) penalized for a terrible defense here, but I do also have a modifier for playing an FCS opponent that dropped them from #1 this past week. So they're still good, just UT Martin isn't doing them any favors.

Clemson is the worst 8-0 team I've ever had to my recollection.

If you have any questions or would like to know a specific team's rating just let me know! And thank you for giving me a platform to say some nerd stuff lol.
