I know we're all gearing up for the game on Saturday against Penn State, but I've been thinking about the world's best heavyweight amateur wrestler a good bit lately, and I'm wondering what the 11w take is on his future, and what he should/will do after he moves on from Ohio State?

If you know anything about the world of amateur wrestling, after an athlete is out of college, the opportunities to ply your trade are much less frequent, and aren't all that lucrative.  Of course there is the Olympics, which one would think he's got at least 1 or 2 more cycles to get through before he decides Olympic competition is done.

Other than the world championships, and events like that, there isn't a lot of areas for amateur wrestlers to make a living...

So what's the best wrestler in the world to do?

I basically see two options that would both be viable, and both have shown that wrestlers that take these paths have varying degrees of success/fame in each.

Option 1 is to fight MMA.  Wrestlers typically make the best MMA fighters, they're strong as oxen, and typically don't need a ton of training before they're ready to fight.  I bet if trained properly, Snyder would develop devastating knockout power.  The UFC would want him based on name recognition alone, and any gym in the country would allow him to walk in and start training from day 1.

Option 2 is to go the Kurt Angle route and become a WWE wrestler.  Vince McMahon pays top dollar for Olympic caliber athletes to mold into sports entertainers, and with their new developmental system, Snyder would have every opportunity to become one of the best.  If he can develop into a character (not a character in the realm of some of the weird, off-beat characters that WWE has had historically), but just be relatable to the audience, and communicate clearly to the audience, there is no reason to think he couldn't be the next Kurt Angle, or Brock Lesnar (in WWE or UFC).

I'm stoked to see KS get back on the mat for the Bucks this year, and I obviously think he'll want to compete in the Olympics again, but beyond that, I think he would be a stud in MMA, or develop into a beast in the WWE.
