Kateri Poole, a five-star recruit in the women’s basketball recruiting class of 2020, announced Monday she is transferring from Ohio State after two seasons with the Buckeyes.
Poole was the top prospect Ohio State’s 2020 recruiting class, ranked 24th nationally by ESPN. She was named to the All-Big Ten freshman team in 2020-21, and was the starting point guard early in the 2021-22 season after Madison Greene suffered a season-ending injury.
However, she did not regain her starting role after missing time in January with an injury of her own. She finished with the year with the seventh-most minutes played per game (16.1) and points per game (4.8) on the team.
With Greene set to return to the starting lineup in 2022-23, Poole will look for an opportunity to earn more playing time elsewhere.
