This Per The Dispatch in January:

A signee in Ohio State's 2025 class has made one of the biggest jumps in the updated 247Sports.com recruiting rankings.

This fall four-star power forward Amare Bynum was the No. 100 national prospect. The 6-8, 225-pound forward climbed to No. 46 in the new rankings released today. The 54-spot leap is the result of a strong season at Branson (Missouri) Link Academy, where he has drawn further national attention for his physicality, his explosiveness and his shooting touch.

“Although he plays alongside nationally ranked bigs in Chris Cenac and John Clark, there have been times when A'mare Bynum has looked like the best frontcourt prospect of group,” 247Sports recruiting analyst Brandon Jenkins wrote. “The Ohio State signee fits the mold of the traditional, big-bodied post player for the Buckeyes. He has terrific hands and seems to always put himself in the right position on the floor.”

The 6-foot-8, 210-pound Bynum has had a strong start to his senior season at Branson (Mo.) Link Academy. He is second on the team in both points per game (10.4) and rebounds per game (4.6) this season. He is also averaging 1.4 assists per game and 1.0 blocks per game in 20 games played as a senior.

Lettermen Row spoke with On3 National Basketball Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw about Bynum’s rise in the updated rankings.

“With A’Mare Bynum you initially see the size and the strength,” Shaw said. “He is a big boy and he uses his length and size to his advantage. Throughout this summer, and into his time with Link, he has show intriguing ball skills. Bynum has played confidently with the ball in his hands, able to face up and create an advantage off the bounce.

He has good hands with soft touch on the block. Bynum is able to get to his left shoulder with quality footwork and an ability to carve out some space with his lower half strength. He is also a solid positional rebounder.

However, for me, his ability to line up from multiple levels on the court and be able to create an offensive advantage is intriguing. With that, his confidence continues to trend in the right direction.”

Bynum is now the No. 54 overall prospect and No. 9 power forward in the On3 Industry Rankings. He and four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Richmond Heights shooting guard Dorian Jones for a strong two-man signing class for Ohio State in the 2025 cycle.
