Citing privacy reasons, UPMC stated that no additional information on Shazier's condition is available at this time, but that future updates will be provided as appropriate.
Shazier suffered a spinal injury on Dec. 4, during the Pittsburgh Steelers' game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football, while making a tackle on Bengals receiver Josh Malone in the first quarter of the game. He has remained hospitalized since the injury, undergoing spinal stabilization surgery last week.
Shazier has been in communication with his Steelers teammates while hospitalizing, FaceTiming with them and sharing a video from the hospital after the Steelers' most recent win on Sunday night over the Baltimore Ravens.
