The 3-3-5 Defense is supposed to check spread offenses.

I agree that it can limit gains via pass, but in my opinion, it’s not set up well to stop the run.

4 wides (left side off the line is a fast tight end).

right side is the H.

TE goes in motion & sets just off tackle.

opposite side setback receiver goes in motion.

you don’t have to block either of the DE’s - the play is too fast developing on one side & the counter makes him chose  who to tackle on an option
