Good morning Eleven Warriors, hope you and your families all enjoyed your Thanksgivings and the start of the holiday season together. Easier said than done given Saturday's events, I know.
I am sure many of us spend Sunday grieving the first loss to Michigan in 10 years, but it is important not to linger on the sorrows for too long. After all, there are other corners of college football that suddenly looks much more depleted and doomed than the Buckeyes possibly could after one football game.
So for This Week's Question, I wanted to help expedite the grieving process by reflecting on positive memories associated with The Game. Whether you attended in-person, watched on TV, or maybe did not even tune in at all — I want to hear what is your favorite memory of Ohio State beating Michigan?
I have been fortunate in my lifetime to witness six wins over Michigan for an unblemished in-person record against the Wolverines — three in Ann Arbor (2005, 2009, 2015), and three in Columbus (2012, 2014, 2016). Though I was there for Anthony Gonzalez's legendary third-down catch and the first overtime game in the rivalry's history, my personal favorite installment was in 2015.
This was the final game I attended as a college student at Ohio State, and it took place the week after I attended my final home game as a college student at Ohio State — the loss to Michigan State that nuked any College Football Playoff title hopes. I would be damned if I was going out on a defeat, so my father and I ventured up to Ann Arbor the morning of The Game to witness the team's shot at redemption.
We could not get tickets together, so I ended up sitting by myself in the heart of a dedicated Michigan fan section of long-time season ticket holders. So imagine the boos I was serenaded with when TBDBITL took the field pre-game to play Buckeye Battle Cry and I belted out every single word to the song.
About 30 minutes later, I would spend much of the rest of the afternoon pretending to eat cereal while Ezekiel Elliot and J.T. Barrett bulldozed their way to 369 team rushing yards. Ohio State won 42-13 and I got to witness it behind enemy lines as the lone scarlet dot in a canvas of maize and blue.
That is not an exaggeration. I am literally the bright red dot on the left side below the press box of The Game's highlights thumbnail below.
But enough about me, what's your favorite memory of beating Michigan?
