Well, that didn't take long.
Two days after entering the transfer portal, former Ohio State cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt signed with Baylor on Thursday, per multiple outlets.

Simpson-Hunt appeared in nine contests this season for Ohio State but earned just six snaps on defense. Although the Buckeyes will have some heavy turnover at cornerback by losing at least Denzel Burke and Jordan Hancock, Simpson-Hunt may have been surpassed on the depth chart by the likes of Jermaine Mathews Jr. and Aaron Scott Jr. He'd also have to compete with incoming five-star freshman Devin Sanchez, who is expected to be in the mix for a starting role at cornerback.
Simpson-Hunt was originally committed to Texas Tech out of high school, so signing with Baylor allows him to be closer to home and have a strong shot at seeing playing time next season.
Simpson-Hunt played in five games as a true freshman in 2023, collecting 24 defensive snaps against Rutgers and Michigan State and special teams snaps against Minnesota, Michigan and Missouri. Because one of his appearances occurred in the Cotton Bowl, Simpson-Hunt qualified for a redshirt in his debut season with the Buckeyes, so he'll have three seasons of eligibility remaining with the Bears.
