I have to be honest - I am amazed at the audacity and the denial of Michigan fans...I really am. As much as I dislike the school, I did believe they were "fairly" sensible about their team and ethics. I always felt the "pride" (arrogance!) would supersede all. They are so protective of their brand. But now they will be viewed as "CHEATERS" for a very long time. I would have expected a portion of their fans to be upset and frustrated that their team broke obvious rules to gain an advantage....but only crickets.
I cannot stand Rich Eisen...and neither should you. I have listened to him and (unfortunately) met him. He personifies Michigan arrogance. He truly believes that the character of a Michigan fan is significantly higher than that of Ohio State. He takes it beyond "joking," he believes it. IMAGINE if this had happened at OSU, he and his Michigan brethren would have been up and arms.
Michigan fans LAMBASTED Tressel for "CHEATING!" Guess what - he did not cheat. He did lie about his players selling their personal belongings for financial gains. Cheating is when you GAIN an advantage...CHEATING is what Michigan actually did.
I have to believe that the fact we dominated UM for the better part of 2 decades has created a "win at any cost" attitude at Michigan. I am still in disbelief that that are rationalizing being a rogue program that broke a rule that is as much about integrity and honor as it is illegal.
This is a slap at our own community - I 100% believe a lot of OSU fans would have taken the "defensive" stance of "Stealing signs is not illegal!" if the roles were reversed...I really do. I am shocked that the sanctimonious fans of Michigan are also in full tilt denial.
Again - if ANY other program did this, the LOUDEST AND MOST OBNOXIOUS insults would be coming from Michigan fans - because they are above the cheating in college football. Flippin' John Baker wrote a fluff book on Harbaugh that espoused how Jim is virtuous and honorable and Michigan was "doing it the right way!" The books basically calls out the SEC as being cheaters.
Well....as long as UM fnas can sleep better at night convincing themselves they did "nothing wrong." I never thought I would see the day....but Michigan is actually a dirty program....and they did it to themselves.
[Mod edit: Didn’t see any mention of “OSU Football”. Moving to College Sports.]
