We Are So Damn Close (Heartbroken)

Feeling very sad like all of you right now, but thought I'd offer some perspective.

This team is so damn close - we are where Georgia was in 2020.

Kirby Smart suffered through five years of close loss after close loss to start his Georgia tenure. He was a first time head coach who made countless mistakes.

Smart lost four straight games to arch rival Alabama - each one more devastating than the last. Nick Saban coached circles around him in every big moment.

Smart lost every single big game in his first five seasons. Each time he had a chance to break through, Georgia would lose in devastating fashion.

Georgia fans repeatedly questioned whether he was the guy to take the program to the next level. But the fans ultimately stuck with him, and Smart just kept building, bringing in elite recruiting classes, elite assistant coaching, and improving on the margins.

Suddenly - the floodgates opened, and Smart and Georgia have won back to back titles (possibly on their way to a third).

We are in the exact same spot right now - we need to improve on the margins. This team does NOT need a complete overhaul.

We know what we need to fix - this loss was not the same as the past two years. We are so damn close, and we have our second greatest recruiting class of ALL TIME coming in.

These are some of the margins:

  • Special teams needs a complete overhaul.
  • Need more consistency from the QB position.
  • Offensive line needs an infusion of elite talent.

The people bringing up the last three games vs Michigan… seem to conveniently forget that Michigan BLATANTLY cheated.

Michigan backed out of a blowout loss in 2020 and then implemented most extensive sign-stealing operation in the history of college football, which had something to do with the unfavorable outcomes in 2021 and 2022.

There is a chance all three games will be forfeited.

Michigan cheated so egregiously the past three years that the normally slow footed NCAA is expediting a massive investigation against them. They’re lucky they even had an opportunity to play this game.

We are so damn close, and what Ryan Day and this team needs is our full support to go out and be aggressive in improving those margins.

Just like Kirby Smart did after 2020.
