Of course I remain deeply disappointed by yesterday’s result. But I have witnessed more painful losses over the past six decades; and, especially from having played a varsity sport through college, I fully recognize that games don’t always go the way you hope for or expect them to go.
Athletes aren’t robots; execution of plays will not always be even close to perfect notwithstanding the best efforts put forth by the players.
That’s why I firmly believe in supporting your team through thick and thin.
However, as the old saying goes, there are exceptions to the rule.
So, if Ohio State were ever found guilty by the B1G to have engaged in an “impermissible scheme resulting in unfair games on unequal terms and compromised player safety,” I absolutely would not wear my hat proudly in the immediate aftermath of such a determination nor would I look to minimize such a finding.
I never ever want to hear again about the supposed ideals of a “Michigan Man.”
Last, but not least, I am still very (VERY) thankful my dad went to Ohio State instead of Michigan.
