Sometimes after watching Kyle's film study I feel like all the schemes and strategy and other BS (sign stealing, intentionally putting 12 men in the field, etc) can take away from the football being played. Part of me likes the chess match but the other part of me is frustrated that these million dollar coaches have such an influence.
It gave me the hypothetical idea of students coaching. The "head coach" becomes a GM who can't coach in the game but recruites and manages and then you have a team of students (head coach and coordinators) that call the plays and manage the game. They would have 4 years of eligibility just like the athletes. Position coaches and trainers I think would still need to be professionals so the athletes can learn from them but they too would not be on the field for the game. I know it would never happen but I wonder what it would be like.
