I did check to see if this topic was posted before and didn't see it, but with the massive influx of forum topics, I could have perceivably missed it or someone may have posted it at the same time as me. But anyways, brief Mini-Rant/Question largely due to morons on Twitter:
Do any of you actually wish that you had Kyle McCord after today's game? Anyone?
The guy threw FIVE INTERCEPTIONS in a loss to Pitt. He did not take his team to a conference championship and I don't think anyone expected him to considering neither the AP Poll or CFP Poll put Syracuse in the top 25 at any point this season (IIRC). The Syracuse gameplan is "make Kyle throw 50 times a game" because they finally found a decent starter after years of woe at the position.
It's ridiculous that people could look at an offense like Ohio State's, see our patchwork offensive line and running back talent, and think: "Yeah, what they really wanted before the game was an immobile, pocket-passing quarterback that was arguably the reason they lost to Michigan last year!"
Personally, I'm fine with McCord as a person and wished well for him when he left. Was glad to see him upset Miami and glad to see him doing as well as he is. But shit, man, people will say ANYTHING, reasonable or not, to dunk on us. I guess it just comes with having a non-garbage team.
I think Will Howard was exactly what this team needed this year, and though he made mistakes this game, I attribute the loss more to coaching problems than him. May be a controversial take, but I would have still taken Howard over Dillon Gabriel, Cam Ward, AND Kyle because I believe he was the leader this team needed. Let's hope he proves it in the playoffs.
Go Buckeyes!
