So I didn't know this, but UT's DC has been a DC at Central Mich, Cincinnati, Illinois & Penn State. Co-DC at PSU in both 2019 and 2020.
Apparently he runs a 4-2-5 and sometimes 3-3-5 with a mix of man and zone but mostly Cover 3, which would be designed to take away the deep ball but open up flats and seams. Their version of "bend don't break."
Tenn in particular seems to rely on front 4 to disrupt the pass so they can drop 4 into zone.
What's the answer for Day and Kelly? Seam routes, crosses behind the LBs, deep outs and comebacks in front of the retreating deep 1/3 defenders. Trey catching the ball out of the backfield to counter an aggressive front 4. Four verts to put 3 deep CBs in conflict.
Anybody thinking about how OSU will attack (and destroy) this UT D?
