Ohio State made a push for Darryn Peterson late but it was not meant to be.

The five-star prospect ranked No. 3 in the country and No. 1 at combo guard chose Kansas over the Buckeyes, Kansas State and USC, his other three finalists.

Jake Diebler and the program still hold pledges from four-star guard Dorian Jones and four-star power forward A'mare Bynum in the 2025 recruiting class. Ohio State will likely try to add one to two more prospects alongside them.

The Buckeyes open their 2024-25 season, their first under Diebler, on Monday against No. 19 Texas. Tipoff is at 10 p.m.
