Now obviously we're still just in the realm of speculation, but more and more analysts and insiders are reporting there's a real interest on the part of recent Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard in joining Lebron James and Anthony Davis at the Lakers. Recently it was reported that Kawhi had requested to meet with Jeanie Debuss and Magic Johnson (evidently he's already spoken with James and Davis), and together with the Lakers' recent moves to clear cap space, everything is in place for the Lakers to sign Kawhi Leonard as a free agent, now it all depends on where Kawhi wants to go.
Regardless of what your feelings are on the phenomenon of super teams, it's undeniable that you really can't compete anymore for rings unless you have 2 or 3 genuine superstars on your team, and a Big 3 of James, Davis, and Leonard would easily be better than any trio in the NBA and could handily topple the Durant and Klay-less Warriors to win the West. The only question then would be who could the Lakers get to fill out the rest of their roster with whatever money and capspace they have left? The Raptors showed this last season that it takes serious depth and off-the-bench points as much as it takes superstars to win a finals series, and I'm not sure the Lakers will have that if they put all their chips on signing Leonard.
