The Cleveland Guardians are an impressive 49-26 after a weekend sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays. The G's are 26-9 at home and 23-17 on the road. There are several reasons as to why Cleveland is at the top of the AL Central. The #1 bullpen in MLB, a huge increase in HR power, 86 now compared to 48 at this point last season, with Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor ranking #2 and #4 in MLB respectively in RBI's. Steven Kwan has emerged not only an outstanding leadoff hitter, but as a serious threat to win the MLB batting title. He currently is hitting .390 with a surprising 7 HR's.
Rookie manager Stephen Vogt has looked the part of wise baseball veteran, managing a roster that has a mixture of talent, youth, and experience. The Guardians were not highly regarded by a number of baseball pundits at the start of the season, with predictions of a middle of the division finish. To date, Cleveland is showing all the signs of a playoff caliber team, a team that could not only make the postseason, but a team that could give anybody a serious run for the AL title.
