Quincy Porter is the first member of Ohio State's 2025 class to "officially" become a Buckeye.
On Student Appreciation Day, which was also Ohio State's 11th spring practice, Porter shed his black stripe. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound receiver becomes the first freshman and fifth scholarship Buckeye to shed their black stripe in 2025, joining cornerback Miles Lockhart, tight end Max Klare, defensive end Dominic Kirks and defensive tackle Eric Mensah.

A five-star recruit in 2025, Porter was the No. 5 wide receiver and No. 23 overall prospect in the class. As a senior at Bergen Catholic (Oradell, New Jersey), Porter caught 57 passes for 969 yards and 11 touchdowns. In four years with the Crusaders, Porter had 133 catches for 2,624 yards and 38 scores.
After Porter signed with the Buckeyes, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day raved about Porter's high school film and his future fit in Brian Hartline's receiver room.
“I think Quincy really is a bigger receiver who is a different style than we've probably had," Day said last December. "Obviously Jeremiah's big, but Quincy really – we loved his film going into last year. We felt like the game that he had against Chaminade, against Jeremiah's team the year before, was the one that really separated him for us. He really competed well, played well, and then you saw the season he had for Bergen Catholic this year.
“It's a state championship program, and he's a big physical guy. And when you look at those guys, you look at where Marvin Harrison Jr. was as a junior and senior in high school, Jeremiah's a little bit different. But those bigger guys, they grow into their bodies and just become stronger and faster. We think all that's going to happen with Quincy. Got a great work ethic, works really hard.”
Porter's work ethic has paid off early in his Ohio State tenure, as he joins former and current Buckeye wide receivers Jeremiah Smith (four practices in 2024), Carnell Tate (five practices in 2023), Garrett Wilson (12 practices in 2019) and Austin Mack (seven practices in 2016) as the fastest members of their class to shed their black stripe.
