Former Ohio State track star Zack Bazile continued an excellent month on the track by finishing second in the long jump with a leap of 8.08 meters (26 feet, 6.25 inches) at the USATF Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on Sunday.
Jeff Henderson won the event with a jump of 8.10 meters (26 feet, 7 inches). Michael Hartfield, also a former Buckeye, finished sixth in the event with a best leap of 7.96 meters (26 feet, 1.25 inches).
Bazile's silver medal at the national championships comes just 18 days after he won an NCAA championship with a career-best long jump of 8.37 meters (27 feet, 5.5 inches) in his final meet as a Buckeye. Bazile was also part of Ohio State's 4x100-meter relay team that set a school record in the preliminaries (38.67 seconds) and finished second in the final (38.75 seconds) at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Bazile was one of two former Ohio State athletes to earn a silver medal at this weekend's USATF Outdoor Championships. Christina Manning finished second in the 100-meter hurdles on Saturday.
