Ohio State's men's and women's basketball teams do not open up their respective seasons for another month, but fans were given an early look at both teams Thursday night at the annual 'Buckeyes on the Blacktop' event.
Started last year, 'Buckeyes on the Blacktop' is a showcase for both teams on the outdoor courts near Lincoln Tower. There is a team shooting competition, 3-point shootout and a dunk contest concludes the night.
Former walk-on Joey Lane was the winner of the 3-point shootout, which also featured JaQuan Lyle, Marc Loving and All-American Kelsey Mitchell. Lane and Lyle each made 15 to advance to the finals and Lane hit 18 in the final round to take home the title.
The dunk contest was judged by Mitchell, Gene Smith, Greg Oden and Brutus and Kam Williams was victorious over freshman Derek Funderburk in the finals.
Photos from the event can be found here. Below are some highlights from the 3-point shootout and dunk contest.
