Every weekend in the fall, thousands of high school football teams line up and take their shot at prep glory. The Sunday morning Prep Tracker is your final stop for the names, numbers and scores that mattered to Ohio State's recruiting efforts.

2016 DB COMMIT WAYNE DAVIS SAVES THE SEASON

Wayne Davis of Lake Taylor (Norfolk, VA) took over the game with his team trailing 37-39 late in the fourth quarter. The Daily Press has the amazing details:

Wayne Davis scored on a 96-yard reception and returned an interception 30 yards for another score – in less than a minute.

[...]

Lake Taylor trailed 39-37 before Davis, who has committed to Ohio State, took a short pass from Tyrek Hughey and raced 96 yards for a score with 2:06 left. Davis then intercepted Ryan Kluck’s pass and returned it for the game-sealing TD.

Davis finished the game with 297 yards receiving (37.1 ypr), 4 touchdowns and the pick-six. Lake Taylor moves on to the semifinals and will play Hanover (Mechanicsville, VA).

HOBAN'S DEFENSE DENIES AKRON ST. VINCENT-ST. MARY

Typically 2017 Ohio State commits Danny Clark and Todd Sibley get the accolades for Hoban's victories. Friday night it was the Hoban defense that stepped up. From The Cleveland Plain Dealer:

The Knights (12-1) forced four turnovers by St. Vincent-St. Mary to clinch its first trip to the state semifinals since 2008.

"Our defense, which we think is the best in Division III, stepped up and did what they needed," Archbishop Hoban coach Tim Tyrrell said.

Video from scout.com of Sibley's performance against St. Vincent-St. Mary:

Todd Sibley shared his thoughts on the win via the Twitterverse:

OHSAA will release the State Semifinal pairings and sites today at 2:30.

TRISTEN WALLACE AND DESOTO LOSE A HEART BREAKER

DeSoto (TX) knew it was in for a battle against Allen (TX). Allen entered the game with a 54 game winning streak and had defeated the Eagles in the playoffs the past two seasons. Friday night DeSoto came within one point of ending both streaks. The Dallas Morning News has the details:

As with the last two seasons, the Allen-DeSoto matchup Friday was tight in the fourth quarter. This time, Allen didn't need a comeback.

DeSoto battled back with a 75-yard touchdown pass from Tristen Wallace to Laviska Shenault with 8:54 left. The scoring play, which came on fourth-and-10, trimmed Allen's lead to 41-34. After forcing an Allen punt, DeSoto pulled within one on a 35-yard touchdown reception by KD Nixon.

But DeSoto kicker Verrick Dyer, who made a pair of field goals earlier in the game, was injured on a punt - and it seemed to affect him on DeSoto's final point-after try. His kick hit the right upright.

DeSoto stopped Allen on the next drive and it set up a possible game winning drive inside Jerry Jones' AT&T Stadium.

After an Allen punt, DeSoto got the ball back at its own 37, trailing by one point with 2:22 left. DeSoto moved to the Allen 38-yard line, but it couldn't get closer. On fourth-and-16, a trio of Allen defenders sacked DeSoto quarterback Tristen Wallace to seal the game.

In Tristen Wallace's final high school game he threw for 168 yards, ran for 161 yards and was responsible for 4 touchdowns.

2016 TARGET DB JORDAN FULLER HAS A FULL GAME

Jordan Fuller and his Old Tappan (NJ) team defeated Wayne Valley (Wayne, NJ) 42-20 Friday night. He shined on offense, defense and special teams. Highlights of Fuller's game from The Record:

The Golden Knights (11-0), ranked No. 1 in The Record public Top 20, got two touchdown runs, a punt return for a score and an interception from senior Jordan Fuller. And 15 minutes after the game, the polite standout was still posing for pictures with young fans on the field.

[...]

Fuller took about a third of the snaps as a Wildcat quarterback. He completed two passes. He also carried the ball 12 times for 105 yards and two scores. Fuller also ran back a punt 55 yards for an electrifying touchdown.

Old Tappan will play Wayne Hills (Wayne, NJ) in round 3 of the New Jersey playoffs.

L'CHRISTIAN SMITH AND HUBER HEIGHTS WAYNE IN THE FINAL FOUR

L'Christian Smith only had two catches for 20 yards against Hilliard Davidson (OH) Saturday night in Huber Heights' 20-6 win. On a cold, rainy and windy night Smith was only targeted four times. In this video you can see the size and some of the speed that the sophomore possesses.

Huber Heights Wayne should play Colerain (Cincinnati) in the semifinals.
