2025 cornerback Jordyn Woods flips from Cincinnati and commits to Ohio State.
Before descending upon Columbus, the members of Select '17 have one final shot at glory under the Friday night lights.
DOWN BY THE RIVER
After missing most of the last three games with an ankle injury, Ohio State safety commit Brendon White did a little bit of everything to help unbeaten Olentangy Liberty knock off crosstown rival Olentangy Orange, 24-17.
White lined up at quarterback, running back, wide receiver and defensive back, gaining 82 all-purpose yards and recording a second-half interception on defense.
“This is the last time I'm playing high school football, and nothing comes easy,” White told The Columbus Dispatch. “We're a very talented offensive group.”
Liberty advances to the second round of the Ohio High School Athletic Association playoffs, where it will face Medina next Friday.
SLEEPWALKING THROUGH THE FIRST ROUND
Cincinnati Colerain improved to 19-0 all-time in the first round of the OHSAA playoffs with a 35-14 win over Springboro on Friday night. It was a hard-fought victory, however, as the Cardinals were penalized 10 times in the first half and only held a seven-point lead at intermission.
Ohio State cornerback commit Amir Riep hauled in his third interception of the season right before the intermission to keep the lead intact, and the Cardinals ran away from the visiting Panthers in the second half.
After a litany of defensive penalties on the Cardinals, Amir Riep redeems them all by intercepting Mahle. Cards ball at their own 8 #cincyfb

“I think we responded well after halftime,” Colerain coach Tom Bolden told Cincinnati.com. “It was a pretty emotional locker room. The game had no flow. It was a little ugly.”
The win sets up a second-round showdown with Cincinnati St. Xavier, which beat Faifield on Friday evening.
“It wouldn't be high school playoffs without Colerain and St. X getting after it,” Bolden said. “That's what it's all about. That's what it's been like forever. It will be another class, I guarantee you that. It will be everything that it should be and more, I guarantee you that.”
FIFTY AND COUNTING
Before heading to Columbus for his official visit, Ohio State quarterback commit Tate Martell threw for 162 yards and four touchdowns to lead Bishop Gorman past Sierra Vista, 56-7. With the victory, the Gaels captured their 50th-consecutive win and another Southwest League championship.
Bishop Gorman, which opens the playoffs next week in pursuit of an eighth-straight state title, allowed a score for the first time in four weeks. Opponents are averaging just five points per game over the last five contests against the Gaels' defense, led by defensive tackle commit Haskell Garrett.
Sierra Vista did not record a first down and was limited to negative rushing yards on the night, its lone score coming on a long pass in the final minutes of the game.
“We looked sharp,” Bishop Gorman head coach Kenny Sanchez told The Las Vegas Sun. “We are playing well.”
