Two Ohio prospects will be taking a visit to Ohio State on Tuesday: Four-star 2023 offensive lineman Austin Siereveld and 2024 tight end Tayvion Galloway

Siereveld is one of OSU’s top remaining in-state targets in the 2023 class. He named a top six of Cincinnati, Iowa, Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan in February. Of those six, he currently has visits planned to Notre Dame, Alabama and OSU.

Tuesday will be big in the Buckeyes’ pursuit of Siereveld, considering he has not visited Columbus since receiving his offer on an Oct. 30 visit for the Penn State game. Greg Studrawa and Kerry Coombs, who were his primary recruiters when the Buckeyes offered Siereveld, are both no longer on the staff.

Newly hired offensive line coach Justin Frye has started building a relationship with Siereveld, but the 6-foot-5, 315-pound lineman says face-to-face interaction with Frye will be crucial to his recruitment, and he’ll monitor how Frye coaches his players in person on Tuesday.

“We’ve been having a good relationship, but that’s on the phone, it’s not personal,” Siereveld said while attending the Under Armour Camp in Obetz, Ohio on Sunday. “I want to know as much as possible (about OSU), everything they have to offer.”

While offensive tackle is certainly a priority for OSU in the 2023 cycle, Siereveld is considered more of an interior lineman and is likely to play either center or guard at the next level, though he’s willing to play anywhere on the line.

“Whatever position coach puts me in, I’m OK with,” Siereveld said.

Siereveld’s decision will likely come after he takes his official visits, which he said are planned for this summer, though he did not specify how many officials he will take and is willing to take as few as one or two or all five. Siereveld, who is ranked as the 363rd-best prospect and the 23rd-ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2023 cycle per 247Sports' composite rankings, says he will do his due diligence in the recruiting process to find the right fit for him.

“Definitely the facilities, coaching staff and academics,” Siereveld said of the most important factors to him when choosing a school.

As for Galloway, the 6-foot-6, 215-pound tight end does not yet hold an offer from Ohio State, though he already has several from Big Ten rivals such as Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Rutgers. But that could change as soon as Tuesday once he meets Ryan Day as Kevin Wilson planned. If an offer doesn’t come in this spring, it could come over the summer if he camps at Ohio State.

Galloway said Sunday that he’s looking forward to continuing to build his relationship with Ohio State’s coaching staff when he’s on campus Tuesday.

“Coach Wilson, we have a pretty solid relationship, we talk at least once a week,” Galloway told Eleven Warriors. “He’s a cool, down to earth guy. He’s told me he plans on using me as an all-around flex guy (at tight end) and just being a weapon.”

Seeing as he’s just entering his junior year, Galloway has set no timetable for his recruitment, but says he’ll make a decision whenever he feels the time is right.

“I’m taking my time with the process and building my connections with everyone,” Galloway said. “When I find out who I want to commit with, I’ll for sure commit. When I know, I’ll know.”

Both Galloway and Siereveld were among the players who earned MVP honors for their performances in their respective position groups at Sunday’s camp.

Brown-Shuler picks up OSU offer

Ohio State has its eyes set on one of the fastest-rising defensive linemen in the 2024 class.

Five-star Georgia defensive lineman Hevin Brown-Shuler picked up an Ohio State offer on Friday.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Brown-Shuler is ranked as the 17th-best player and the second-best defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He has 18 Division I offers, including Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, NC State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC and West Virginia.

In four games for Pace Academy (Atlanta, Georgia) last season, Brown-Shuler racked up 16 tackles and four sacks. He's the third defensive lineman Ohio State has offered in the 2024 class, joining Nigel Smith and Dylan Stewart

Styles wins state basketball championship

Five-star 2022 Ohio State safety signee Sonny Styles completed his prep basketball career in style over the weekend, helping lead Pickerington Central to a Division I Ohio state championship with a 55-48 win over Centerville on Sunday night. Heading into the contest, Centerville had won 45 straight games dating back to last season. It was Pickerington Central’s second boys basketball state championship in school history.

Styles finished the game with an all-around effort of eight rebounds and six assists. Meanwhile, small forward Devin Royal, an Ohio State basketball target, led Pickerington Central with 20 points, four rebounds and two assists.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Styles plans to enroll at OSU in the summer and join the team for summer workouts.

Iamaleva commits to Tennessee

Less than a week after announcing his top five of Georgia, Oregon, Alabama, Tennessee and Miami, Nicholaus Iamaleava has made a decision, committing to Tennessee on Monday.

Iamaleava is ranked as the seventh-best prospect and the fourth-best quarterback in the 2023 class. Of interest to Ohio State fans, Tennessee is one of five-star wide receiver Carnell Tate’s top schools, and the priority Ohio State target has been interested to see how the quarterback recruiting dominoes fall this cycle.

Despite Iamaleava’s commitment, OSU still remains in great shape to land Tate, who plans to visit Columbus April 1-3.
