Another week, another record for Urban Meyer.
With Saturday's 24-20 win over Northwestern, Urban Meyer got the 161st win of his career, breaking a tie he held with Oklahoma's Bob Stoops for the most wins by any coach in the first 15 seasons of his career. Stoops won 160 games from 1999–2013.
Meyer recorded a sterling 11.0 wins per season heading into this year and – if you can believe it – he has a shot to actually move that average up with a strong finish and postseason play.
Coach | Program(s) | Wins | Years |
---|---|---|---|
URBAN MEYER | BOWLING GREEN, UTAH, FLORIDA, OHIO STATE | 161 | 2001–10, 2012–16 |
BOB STOOPS | OKLAHOMA | 160 | 1999–2013 |

In his 15th season as an FBS head coach, his off years, if you can call them off years, came in his first season at Bowling Green (2001) and his final season at Florida (2010) when he finished 8–3 and 8–5, respectively. He's recorded two perfect 12–0 seasons and six other campaigns with at least 12 wins, winning national championships in 2006, 2008 and 2014.
He's also 21–1 in true road games at Ohio State and owns winning streaks of 24 and 23 games.
Meyer is the nation's winningest active coach with at least 10 years of experience, owning a winning percentage of .852 (161-28). He currently sits third on the winningest coaches all-time list, trailing only a pair of Notre Dame legends. Knute Rockne is first with an .881 winning percentage while Frank Leahy is second at .864.
