Billy Price is one step closer to becoming the second straight Ohio State center to win the Rimington Trophy.
The fifth-year senior from Austintown, Ohio, was named Monday as one of three finalists for this year's Rimington Trophy, which honors college football's best center, along with Alabama's Bradley Bozeman and LSU's Will Clapp.
Price, who was named Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year last week, is looking to follow in the footsteps of former teammate Pat Elflein, who won the award in his final season as a Buckeye last year.
Should Price win the award, he would be the third Buckeye to receive the Rimington Trophy, joining Elflein (2016) and LeCharles Bentley (2001).
Price set the Ohio State school record for most consecutive games started earlier this year, breaking the previous record of 50 set by Luke Fickell, and is currently at 54 games and counting. Assuming he plays in the Cotton Bowl, Price will tie Pat Elflein's record of 55 career games played.
