Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com reported Monday night that former Ohio State and Carolina Panthers guard Andrew Norwell would decide among the New York Giants, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Indianapolis Colts when free agency opened on March 14th.
It appears the Jacksonville Jaguars had something to say about that—and the money to back up their talk.
ESPN's Adam Schefter and the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport are reporting that Norwell agreed to a five-year, $66.5 million contract with the Jaguars overnight. The deal comes with $30 million guaranteed and would make Norwell the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league:
Highest Average Annual Value - Current OL Contracts:
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 13, 2018
G Andrew Norwell $13.3M
OT Russell Okung $13.25M
OT Trent Williams $13.2M
Norwell can officially sign his contract when free agency opens at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday afternoon.
