Saturday night was not a showcase for Ohio State's second-ranked 2018 recruiting class.
When the nail-biting first half turned into an eight-point TCU lead early in the third quarter, acting head coach Ryan Day trusted his veterans to lead the comeback in Ohio State's 40-28 victory.
The Buckeyes piled up 526 yards of total offense (344 passing, 182 rushing), blocked a punt, forced three turnovers and registered three sacks and seven total tackles for loss. The Horned Frogs did plenty of damage, however, piling up 511 yards of total offense.
Only four true freshmen saw the field against TCU — defensive ends Javontae Jean-Baptiste and Alex Williams, wide receiver Chris Olave and linebacker K'Vaughan Pope —none of which recorded a stat.
