Ohio State games have been among the nation's most-watched games nearly every week, and the Buckeyes brought the viewers once again in the final game of the season, breaking a New Year's Six viewership record in its Rose Bowl win.
The 9.7 overnight for the Buckeyes’ victory is the highest-rated non-playoff New Year’s Six game, overtaking the 2017 Rose Bowl. The game peaked at 10.9 overnight late in the fourth quarter.
Columbus, in particular, tuned in en mass to watch Urban Meyer's final game. Columbus was the highest-rated home market of the day, delivering a 42.7 rating. It was the highest-rated home market for a non-playoff Rose Bowl since 2010 – a game which also featured the Buckeyes.
