Last week, Nick Bosa was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for recording three sacks in the month of November.

This week, Bosa is the NFC Defensive Player of the Week after recording that many sacks in just one game.

Unsurprisingly, the former Ohio State and current San Francisco 49ers defensive end earned top honors among NFC defensive players after a dominant Week 13 performance against the Miami Dolphins in which he not only record three sacks but also forced a fumble that was returned by his 49ers teammate Dre Greenlaw for a touchdown.

With that performance, Bosa became the league leader in sacks (14.5) for the 2022 season and put himself squarely in the running for NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors, though Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is still the betting favorite to win that award. Bosa also leads the league in quarterback hits and has led the way for a 49ers defense that is allowing fewer points (15.8) and yards (283.9) per game than any other defense in the NFL.

Bosa isn’t the only player with Ohio State ties to earn an NFL player of the week award in Week 13, as his friend and former OSU teammate Joe Burrow – who of course finished his college career at LSU – earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors after accounting for 332 total yards and three total touchdowns to lead the Cincinnati Bengals to a win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
